Muzik, Maker of Smart Headphones, Launches Today (Exclusive)

There are smartphones, and there are headphones  — you can even plug one into the other — but today sees the launch of Muzik, a company that has created what it calls the world’s “first socially connected smart headphones” which combines elements of both technologies.

Scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2013, Muzik headphones are the marquee product for the company founded by Jason Hardi, former product manager at SMS Audio.  The smart headphones integrate social media, music listening, and electronic devices with a series of technological advances using its trademarked Social Smartware technology.

When wearing these rather sleek, wireless Muzik headphones, users can tap an earpiece that also functions as a touch screen to instantaneously share the songs they’re listening to on Facebook and Twitter or instantly send anywhere in the world. The platform is designed to be agnostic and work in conjunction with all major streaming music services, video networks, and more.

Joining Hardi at Muzik is Music World Entertainment (best known for managing Beyonce and Destiny’s Child) COO John Cawley who will serve as Muzik’s Chief Strategy Officer and Vice Chairman.

“While the music industry has seen its challenges, technological advances have also created a world of opportunity, which Muzik is seizing to create an entirely new category,” Hardi said in a statement. “Headphones will never again just be for listening to music or talking on the phone – our headphones will improve the way we socially discover, share, listen and experience music. In addition to music exploration, I look forward to working with the developer community to create amazing applications leveraging smart headphones.”

“We are not another headphone company in the audio space,” Cawley commented. “We are a wearable technology company making smart headphones and accessories. Jason’s vision is genius and we were singularly focused on joining the ranks of the world’s most innovative companies – Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nike and Samsung – in one of today’s hottest sectors, wearable technology and connected devices.”

Muzik also has plans to roll out a full line of accompanying smart audio products as part of their “mobile Muzik ecosystem,” which includes an app for sharing music on mobile devices.
