Skylar Grey’s next project finds the singer leaving the studio and planning a clothing line. The songwriter and musician, whose second album Don’t Look Down came out this past July, is currently in the process of creating her own collection and if all goes to plan, will arrive in the second half of 2014.

“I’m not really announcing it fully yet, but I have a very hard time when I’m shopping finding anything I like because I have a very unique style,” Grey tells Rolling Stone. “I like a lot of drop-crotch stuff. It’s hard to find so I wanted to create a line that was for me to wear at my shows and everything. But then I was like ‘Well, I might as well sell this stuff if I have it. If I have this custom stuff, I might as well have it be available because it isn’t available anywhere.’ So that’s where it all started from.”

The musician says the collection will likely debut in “the fall of next year” and is planning to bring her personal aesthetic into the mix. The line will also not just be for women.

“The whole line is going to be unisex,” Grey says. “I’m a super tomboy. I like really earthy stuff. I’m a woodsy girl. I grew up hunting and stuff so I want to bring in those elements of the woods but have it be more fashion-forward.”

Grey also offers an explanation to the drop-crotch pants craze, which has been popularized by artists like Justin Bieber and Kanye West. The pants feature a normal waist and lowered crotch and have become trendy for women as well. Grey says there’s a logical — although slightly TMI — reason why.

“They are so comfortable!” she says. “And you get yeast infections in tight jeans. There is no reason for that!”
