Lady Gaga is now the RIAA‘s first Digital Diamond award recipient for her 2009 hit “Bad Romance,” off of her platinum LP The Fame Monster (Streamline/Interscope), which has surpassed 10m sales and streams. Gaga was presented with the honor on Tuesday at her Verizon Wireless Center show in Washington, D.C. as a part of her artRAVE: the ARTPOP Ball Tour. “With this award, Lady Gaga joins a prestigious and exclusive list of Gold and Platinum luminaries,” proclaimed RIAA Chairman/CEO Cary Sherman. “‘Bad Romance’ is one of the most popular and iconic songs of the last decade.” The Diamond award for albums was of course introduced in the late 1990s, about 10 minutes before Napster came along.  (5/16p)
