Aphex Twin to Release 13-Track EP on Jan. 23

After taking almost a decade between new releases, Aphex Twin has returned with a vengeance. Following the release of his sixth studio album Syro, back in September, Richard D. James’s longtime label, Warp Records, has just announced the impending release of a new 13-track EP Aphex Twin EP entitled Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2, which is set to drop on Jan. 23, 2015. With this much unreleased new music just “lying around,” it begs the question, what else has Aphex got locked away in the vaults? Also, what happened to Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 1?Attempting to figure out Richard D. James is pointless so we’ll just enjoy the record. Meanwhile, since its September release, Syro has been widely lauded by fans and critics alike, topping many Best of 2014 album lists, and even receiving a Grammy nod in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category.
