The Rolling Stones North American "ZIP CODE" Tour - Nashville

The Rolling Stones takes the top slot on the weekly Hot Tours recap (see list, below) for the first time since launching its Zip Code tour in late May.

The iconic rock band’s No. 1 ranking comes from $52 million in box office sales earned at six stadiums during the eight-week North American jaunt. Three venues have topped the $9 million mark in sales since the tour began, led by Orlando’s Citrus Bowl Stadium that logged $9.3 million in revenue from 47,262 sold seats on June 12. Also this summer, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas registered $9.2 million in sales on June 6 and the June 20 concert at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field grossed $9.1 million.

Zip Code marks the Stones’ third touring effort since November 2012 when the band kicked off its 50 & Counting tour behind a greatest hits release titled GRRR!That tour included 23 performances during a seven-month span that wrapped in Washington, D.C. on June 24, 2013. Sales from 50 & Counting totaled $126 million from 326,998 sold seats.

The following February, the band kicked off its 14 On Fire tour with an outdoor performance in Abu Dhabi and followed with dates in Europe and Oceania through November. Sales from the 2014 tour topped $165 million from 862,900 fans in attendance at 25 performances.

In total since 2012, overall grosses for the Rolling Stones tours now total $360 million.

Bette Midler follows at No. 2 on this week’s Hot Tours tally with $17.7 million from 18 performances reported from her Divine Intervention tour through markets in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain. Adding grosses from shows in Atlanta and Houston that were reported in an earlier week, overall sales from the summertime jaunt currently top $19.5 million from 159,056 fans in attendance at 20 concerts. The North American run will wrap on June 29 and the U.K. leg will follow in July.

The Divine Intervention tour supports the album It’s the Girls!, released last November, and includes songs from the album mixed with Midler standards from her five decades in show business. The tour marks her return to the road for the first time in ten years. Her last world tour, titled Kiss My Brass, ran from December 2003 through the end of 2004 in North America, wrapping in Australia the following April. With 77 shows reported to Billboard, the ‘Brass’ tour racked up $74 million in sales.

Then in February 2008, Midler kicked off her next live project, The Showgirl Must Go On, a Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The two-year engagement continued through Jan. 2010, grossing $72 million from 170 performances.
