Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O and producer Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton have shared a new song titled “Lux Prima,” the first offering from their upcoming collaborative album together.

Danger Mouse said of the nine-minute first single, which surrounds Karen O’s atmospheric track with a lengthy synth-laden intro and spacey outro, “With ‘Lux Prima,’ we were really looking for a place rather than a sound. It was our first shared destination so we thought we’d take our time getting there. The song itself is a bit of a journey, but all the parts felt like they needed each other.”

Karen O added of the album in a statement, “After making music for the past twenty years and embarking on making this record with Danger Mouse I knew a couple things: one was that the spirit of collaboration between us was going to be a pure one, and two was that the more I live the less is clear to me. When you create from a blurry place you can go places further than you’ve ever been. I think we both were excited to go far out.”

The duo previously teased the new collaboration on their newly launched joint Instagram account. Prior to the joint album’s release, the details of which have not yet been announced, “Lux Prima” will receive a limited edition 12-inch white vinyl release on December 14th. The track marks Karen O’s first new song since she partnered with the French fashion house Kenzo for “Yo! My Saint.”
