The music community is mourning the loss of veteran ESPN sportscaster Stuart Scott, who died on Sunday (Jan. 4) at the age of 49.
Scott, a longtime anchor for the network’s SportsCenter, had been fighting cancer since a diagnosis in late 2007, according to the Associated Press. Even so, he remained a personality on ESPN while undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
During his time at ESPN, Scott covered such major events as the Super Bowl, NBA finals, World Series and NCAA Tournament.
He is survived by his parents, O. Ray and Jacqueline Scott; siblings Stephen Scott, Synthia Kearney and Susan Scott; his daughters Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15; and girlfriend Kristin Spodobalski, the AP reports.
